Man found dead at home was "tormented" by youths UK news

A man with guidance difficulties who died at his home last night was "tormented to death" by internal youths, neighbours claimed today.

Police had been warned that 64-year-old David Askew was being targeted prior to he was found passed in Hattersley, Greater Manchester, circuitously residents said.

They criticised military and officials, claiming they had not upheld Askew, his brother, Brian, and his mother, Rose, who uses a wheelchair.

Officers were called to the family home last night after being told youngsters were causing "annoyance".

When military arrived, the youths had vanished, but officers detected Askew, who was conspicuous passed at the scene.

"This has been going on for about 10 years," Avona Davies, a 49-year-old neighbour, said.

"We have complained to the military and council, and they put cameras in their behind grassed area about 3 years ago.

"They worried David for income and cigarettes. They worried him each night but fail."

Davies conspicuous she had stopped angry to military since "nothing gets done", adding that yesterday"s harassment, by people who were "about eighteen or nineteen years old", had started at around 6.30pm.

"David had guidance difficulties, and I think that is since they worried him, since he would roar out of the window at them," she said.

"Sometimes it would be dual of them, others it would be 6 kids or a big gang. David would throw income and cigarettes in to the grassed area to get absolved of them, but they would regularly go back. That"s since they did it."

Another neighbour, who asked not to be named, conspicuous she had lived nearby the Askews for 39 years.
